Job description

Junior Achievement's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Our proven lessons in financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship are shown to positively impact the lives of young people. These lessons align with national and state educational standards and are delivered to millions of students across the country with the help of our education partners and volunteers from the local community. In the Capital Region, JA of Northeastern NY impacts over 14,000 students annually with our programs.

The Education Programs Manager is responsible for the strategic marketing, planning, implementation and evaluation of JA’s educational programs and initiatives aimed at empowering young people with the skills and inspiration needed to succeed. This individual serves as a primary point of contact for schools and school districts and is responsible for ensuring a consistently high-quality experience for educators, volunteers, community partners and students.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and implement JA’s portfolio of educational programs from planning through execution, including classroom-based programs, our annual Stock Market Challenge, JA Titan, JA Job Shadow, JA Finance Park and other experiential initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with K-12 teachers, school administrators, district leaders and local community partners to promote JA programs, understand partner needs and expand student participation.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and responsive point of contact for schools and school districts, providing clear communication, thoughtful guidance and timely follow through throughout the program cycle.
  • Work with organizational leadership to establish annual program goals, priorities, schedules and strategies for increasing student impact.
  • Take the lead in coordinating, directing and supporting staff and volunteers involved in program delivery to achieve overall program objectives.
  • Recruit, train and support JA program volunteers, helping them understand program objectives and providing guidance on program delivery.
  • Coordinate placement and scheduling of trained volunteers.
  • Continually provide motivation, feedback, program materials and resources to volunteers and teachers.
  • Execute volunteer and teacher surveys, evaluate feedback and identify opportunities to strengthen program delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, including volunteer hours, student participation and program outcomes.
  • Use program data and partner feedback to evaluate effectiveness and support future planning.
  • Represent Junior Achievement at school meetings, community events and presentations to education and business partners.
  • Assist in organizing and supporting JA events.
Qualifications
  • Highly organized, with at least 5 years experience in K-12 teaching and/or administration, or with a professional background that includes program management, planning, coordination and evaluation.
  • Experience working with K-12 schools, school districts, youth programming or education partners is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with teachers, school administrators, district leaders, volunteers and community partners.
  • Strong professional presence and verbal, written and presentation skills to represent Junior Achievement effectively with education and community partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities involving different timelines, schools, volunteers and stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment, initiative and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.
  • Familiarity with current educational trends, best practices and standards, including the new NYS Financial Literacy Learning Objectives, to effectively convey the mission of JA to teachers and volunteers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Google Docs, and aptitude for learning new software applications. Junior Achievement's digital platform is always evolving, and the schools and other partners we work with have varying systems.
  • A degree in education, business or a related discipline is desirable.

This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday-Friday during normal business hours, though occasional meetings and/or events outside those hours may be needed. Due to the seasonality of our programs, workload naturally fluctuates throughout the year, with lighter demands during the summer months.

This position is largely remote but requires regular in-person meetings with fellow staff and education partners, so only candidates currently residing in the Capital Region of NY will be considered. The salary range for this position is $65,000-$85,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

We at Junior Achievement are dedicated to providing a positive, enriching learning experience free of bias that promotes greater economic opportunity and equity.

Junior Achievement welcomes K-12 students, volunteers, educators, staff, and other partners and stakeholders, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, national origin, disability, sexual orientation or any other legally protected characteristic.
