Naples Zoo, Inc. is seeking an Education Specialist in Naples, FL to support the Education Department through interpretive, formal and informal programming including toddler programs, tours, school and group programs, camps and events.

The role assists with training of part‑time educators, volunteers and interns, and supports daily operations with emphasis on safety and customer experience. Outdoor work and animal interaction are involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, biology, environmental studies or related field required; one year experience may substitute.
• Experience in interpretive educational settings with adults and children is required.
• Experience creating age-appropriate educational content or curriculum.
• Customer service experience and ability to work with diverse groups is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach programs, tours, camps and events for all ages.
• Design educational curricula with goals and conservation standards.
• Coordinate on-site and off-site events and outreach programs.
• Lead programs in the absence of part-time staff and assist with training.
• Assist in evaluating programs and training volunteers and interns.
• Maintain animal handler status and follow safety protocols during presentations.
• Provide excellent customer service and cross-train across Education Department.
