Responsibilities

Facilitate development, communication and evaluation of a shared vision for teaching and learning.
Promote an academically rigorous, safe school climate for all stakeholders.
Assist with selection, induction, supervision and retention of staff.
Oversee school organization, operation and resource use.
Communicate with leadership teams across Newport News high schools.
Demonstrate professional standards, engage in ongoing development, and uplift the profession.
Lead to measurable student progress based on established standards.
Implement statewide and local testing programs.
Select students for enrollment and develop master schedule to meet programming needs.
Design innovative programming for non-traditional program characteristics.
Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
