Newport News Public Schools is seeking a 2026-2027 Secondary Assistant Principal IV - Operations to lead the school's operations, including attendance, security, transportation, and discipline. The position requires a Master’s degree and eligibility for Virginia Postgraduate licensure in administration, plus several years of secondary teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Master’s degree and be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License in administration and supervision.
• At least three years of successful experience as a teacher at the secondary school level.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current issues and practices in public secondary education and the ability to apply them.
• Ability to plan, supervise and establish effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the daily operation of attendance, athletics/activities, security, transportation, cafeteria and custodial programs.
• Assist in enforcing student discipline plans and safe, orderly school environments.
• Supervise staff and participate in performance evaluations at the school site.
• Conduct classroom observations and conferences with teachers to improve instruction.
• Prepare discipline reports and communicate with parents/guardians regarding discipline and attendance.
