Job summary

The Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo is hiring an Education Assistant to support the daily scheduling and coordination of the Group Visits Program, including the on-site School Visits Program.

This role requires strong customer service, nonprofit experience, and proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace; on-site, Monday–Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, with occasional evenings and weekends to support events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a customer service role.
• Administrative assistant experience in a nonprofit, volunteer-centered organization and museum setting preferred.
• Understanding of basic principles of volunteer management.
• Knowledge of Japanese American history and Little Tokyo is beneficial.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with Asana is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Schedule group visits and coordinate the Group Visits Program, including on-site School Visits.
• Coordinate volunteer docents and facilitators to support programs.
• Prepare materials for daily activities and maintain group tour schedules in Altru and Google Calendar.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, teachers and administrators to ensure smooth execution.
• Promote anti-bias and anti-racist teaching in program delivery.
