Job description

Education Programs Coordinator – Everett Campus

This role supports Village Theatre’s KIDSTAGE program at the Everett campus, overseeing day‑to‑day operations of non‑audition classes during the school year and week‑long theatre camps during the summer. The position provides administrative, onsite, and operational support for advanced Institute programming and is a highly visible, front‑facing role focused on program quality, teaching artist support, and a welcoming, inclusive environment for students and families.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Program Operations & Student Experience
    • Serve as front‑of‑house staff, greeting students and families arriving and departing from classes, camps, and Institute programs.
    • Manage daily operations of classes, camps, and advanced programming to ensure consistency, safety, and quality.
    • Lead final demonstrations for Saturday classes and summer camps.
    • Support Institute showcases, events, and special programs such as “In at Main” nights.
    • Encourage students and families to engage in the full Village Theatre experience.
  • Teaching Artist & Staff Support
    • Support the Hiring Specialist in recruiting and hiring teaching artists.
    • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Youth Education and Senior Education & Outreach Manager to support instructors, including reviewing curriculum, observing classes, and offering constructive feedback.
    • Support teaching artist apprentice programs (approximately three apprentices per summer).
    • Check in regularly with instructors to ensure classroom and setup needs are met.
    • Supervise student volunteers.
  • Program Development & Administration
    • Assist in designing, planning, promoting, and implementing engaging introductory to intermediate classes and camps for a wide age range.
    • Provide administrative and digital communication support for the Everett Institute program, including coordination of program information, family communication, scheduling logistics, and organizational documentation.
    • Monitor and respond to the general education email account.
    • Maintain and update student records and databases.
    • Help proofread marketing and teaching materials.
    • Organize and maintain internal digital content related to curriculum, instruction, and student and instructor resources.
  • Community & Professional Engagement
    • Develop strong, healthy relationships with students, families, teaching artists, and staff.
    • Uphold and model Village Theatre’s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.
    • Maintain and grow local connections and a professional presence in the theatre and arts education community on behalf of Village Theatre.
Skills & Experience
  • Education & Learning Background
    • Background in theatre, education, youth development, arts administration, or related field through education, work, or equivalent experience.
    • Coursework, training, apprenticeships, certification programs, or hands‑on experience in arts education, youth programs, or community engagement are valued.
    • Experience or training in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Teaching Artist Training (TAT), Youth Program Quality Initiative (YPQI), restorative practices, culturally responsive teaching, or related learning models is helpful but not required.
  • Professional & Transferable Experience
    • Experience working with young people in educational, artistic, recreational, or community‑based settings (schools, camps, after‑school programs, nonprofits, libraries, community centers).
    • Experience supporting educators, teaching artists, instructors, facilitators, or program leaders is a plus.
    • Comfort working with individuals from diverse cultural, racial, socioeconomic, and learning backgrounds.
    • Experience in customer service, operations, administration, or program coordination that demonstrates strong organization and people skills.
    • Familiarity with tools such as email, shared calendars, data entry systems, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar platforms—or the ability to learn them with training.
    • Experience developing, supporting, or adapting curriculum or lesson plans is helpful but not required.
  • Skills & Personal Qualities
    • Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen, share information clearly, and offer constructive feedback with care and respect.
    • Organized and reliable, with the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast‑paced, people‑centered environment.
    • Detail‑oriented while also able to see the big picture of student and family experience.
    • Collaborative and flexible, with the ability to work independently when needed.
    • Enthusiastic about supporting young people and passionate about the role of the arts in learning, confidence‑building, and community connection.
    • Able to remain calm under pressure and represent Village Theatre with professionalism, warmth, and empathy.
    • Theatre or musical theatre experience is welcomed but not required.
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate is $27.00 per hour. This role is scheduled for 30 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during the summer.
