The State of New Hampshire, NH Fish and Game Department has a full-time vacancy for Educations Program Supervisor.
Supervise, evaluate, plan, manage, and implement NH Fish and Game Department’s Public Affairs Division Education Program, utilizing applicable federal and state and other funding sources to establish program goals and measurable objectives that address identified statewide issues and needs. The role coordinates and delivers integrated, state-wide educational programs, policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with department direction and state and federal requirements. Responsibilities include planning, program development, operation, and reporting to state and federal agencies and other granting authorities; supervision of outdoors skills education programs, K-12 Conservation Education programs, and staff; and maintaining compliance with all program and department standards, policies, and funding requirements.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 4.5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 8.5 years of education and experience after competition of high school. Education and experience must be in environmental conservation, natural resources management, recreational management, program administration or related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management level position.
License/Certification: Valid Driver’s License
Other Requirements: Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the agency.
Trainee Option: Candidates with an equivalent combination of 7.5+ years of relevant education and experience after completion of high school may be considered and hired in ‘trainee status’ for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of Best Practices in conservation education.
AFTER-HIRE REQUIREMENTS: Must attain NH Fishing and Hunting license within 12 months of hire.

When applicable, the work of an employee in trainee status in this position shall be overseen by a fully qualified individual. Plans, implements, and evaluates statewide Public Affairs education programming in alignment with direction from the Department leadership, by integrating the national missions and strategic plans, as determined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (the department’s primary partner in the federally funded education programs), and the Department of Fish and Game. Supervises and coordinates program delivery and outcomes in accordance with programmatic policies, procedures, and standards.
Recruits, interviews, recommends hiring, and exercises direct supervision over Public Affairs Education Unit personnel; with responsibility for oversight of operations, budgetary needs, assessment of training needs, work assignments, developing work methods, problem-solving, and measurement of work outcomes.
Conducts performance evaluations, carries out disciplinary actions, and provides supervisory recommendations regarding employee role progression, advancements, and other personnel actions for professional and support employees in the Unit.
Serves as project leader for, reviews, revises, and prepares Aquatic Education and Hunter Education grant proposals, including Federal aid in Sport Fish and Wildlife Restoration Funds using research, public input and agency review to evaluate program effectiveness; submits required annual reports to Federal Aid in Sport Fish and Wildlife Restoration, Provides evaluation data for Recruitment and Retention and Outreach Grants; and seeks additional grant opportunities while managing all reporting, compliance, and documentation requirements.
Tracks, monitors, and proposes biennial budgets for the Public Affairs Education Unit. Reviews and write contracts as necessary for vendors that may be hired for research, construction, programming assistance, or other services as needed.
Monitors legislative bills, and reviews and recommend rules under RSA 541-A, 214:23-a, 214:23-b, 214:23-c. 214:23-d, that may impact the Education Unit programs. Works with the Department’s legislative liaison to address pending legislation, or to initiate administrative rule changes that pertain to the unit.
Represents the department at conferences, national, statewide, and/or interdepartmental meetings, and committees in order to maintain best practices and standards for the Public Affairs Education Unit.
Reviews state curriculum frameworks approved by NH DOE and incorporates the latest standards into any Department Conservation Education curriculum and programs implemented in public and private schools. Reviews and implements as needed any Association of Fish and Wildlife Agency national initiatives for Public Affairs Conservation Education Programs.
Supports the Department Wildlife Action Plan by working in partnership with the State Wildlife Action Plan Implementation Team to incorporate identified education-based priorities into conservation education programs.
Develops and maintains partnerships with conservation organizations to advance conservation education objectives in the state to include education about fish and wildlife habitat, wildlife management concepts, and connecting people with the outdoors.
Oversee continued and ongoing planning and development for the operation of the Owl Brook Hunter Education Center and for training opportunities and outreach on hunting-related events, workshops, and education programs in the state. Utilizes knowledge of fishing and hunting and maintains competency in the use of firearms and fishing equipment in order to provide training for the Becoming an Outdoor Woman (BOW) program.
