Job summary

The Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) at Stanford University is hiring a Program Manager, Education to run the day-to-day operations of its scholar, fellow, and student programs.

The role reports to the Managing Director, Research and Campus Engagements and supports Data Science Scholars, AI4All, Data Science for Social Good (DSSG), AI and Data Science Postdoctoral Fellows, student affiliate groups, and future educational programs as they come online.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage day-to-day operations of the program portfolio and allocate resources.
  • Collect and analyze data, prepare reports, and monitor program trends.

  • Organize outreach, events, and training sessions; contribute to budgets and forecasting.

The Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) is a newly merged institute that is rapidly growing within the Dean of Research. As an independent research institute, HAI’smission is to advance AI research, education, policy, and practice to improve the human condition. The research programming at the HAI works to foster interdisciplinary research and elevate that work to a global audience through grant programming, convenings, fellowships and more.

HAI is hiring a Program Manager, Education to administer the day-to-day operations of its portfolio of scholar, fellow, and student programs. Reporting to the Managing Director, Research and Campus Engagements, this position administers programs including Data Science Scholars, AI4All, Data Science for Social Good (DSSG), AI and Data Science Postdoctoral Fellows, student affiliate groups, and future educational programs as they come online. The role manages meeting setup, calendaring, catering, and event logistics across the portfolio; administers participant intake, onboarding, and lifecycle activities; coordinates with faculty advisors, mentors, vendors, and partner organizations; and works closely with HAI's Communications, Finance, Policy, and HR teams. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable juggling multiple overlapping program calendars, has strong communication skills, and exercises sound judgment in day-to-day operational decisions under general supervision.

We are hiring one (1) full-time (100% FTE) fixed-term position for two (2) years, renewable based on programmatic need and funding.

The Budgeted Pay Range:$104,412 to $124,516 per annum

Responsibilities
Core Duties
  • Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-dayactivities of the unit, function or program by identifying and executingtasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies andprograms, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of theprogram.
  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explaintrends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/orrecommendations to achieve the goals of the program orfunction.
  • Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implementprocedures for program or function.
  • Represent the program or function as the key contact and subjectmatter expert within the department, unit or school. Commit resourcesand provide information and/or training. May also represent the programor function to external/internal stakeholders andconstituencies.
  • Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that mayinclude developing communications and training, planning/promotingevents and/or conferences.
  • May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approveexpenditures. May perform limited forecasting and providerecommendations that determine the budget.
  • May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments. Mayalso supervise staff.
Minimum Education andExperience

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, orcombination of education and relevant experience.
