Job summary

Colorado Department of Education (CDE) seeks a Legislative Liaison to connect the State Board of Education, CDE, and the General Assembly. You will analyze proposed legislation, build relationships with lawmakers, and support policy development for statewide K-12 priorities.

The role requires tracking bills, coordinating with the Policy Team, and preparing materials for hearings. Reporting to the Senior Legislative Advisor, you will manage communications, provide regular updates to board

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant public policy experience.
  • Experience in policy development, legislative tracking, or related work.
  • Knowledge of Colorado’s legislative environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Colorado State Board and Department of Education before the General Assembly.
  • Track legislation, prepare summaries, and brief board members and staff.
  • Coordinate with policy teams and stakeholders to advance education priorities.
  • Assist with hearings, testimonies, and logistics for legislative activities.
  • Develop communications and outreach strategies with legislators and advocates.
