Job summary

Shenandoah County Public Schools is seeking paraprofessionals to support students in classrooms and on campus. Applicants must meet required education standards and be prepared to assist teachers across grade levels.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of college or an associate's degree are acceptable; otherwise candidates must certify via the Parapro assessment with a 455 on the standard test, or achieve a local Parapro score of 450.

Qualifications

• All Paraprofessionals must have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent.
• Two years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtain an associate's degree (must provide supporting documents).
• Newly hired paraprofessionals who do not meet one of these requirements will be required to certify through the Parapro assessment as soon as possible after being hired as noted below:
• Meet a proficiency target of 455 on the Parapro standardized assessment.
• In addition to the options identified above, Paraprofessionals may achieve local status by meeting a local proficiency score on the Parapro of 450.
• When completing new hire paperwork paraprofessionals will receive direction on how to begin the process of scheduling your Parapro assessment.
