Job summary

Shenandoah County Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional to support a student with special needs at Strasburg High School. Employment tied to the student’s needs; position may end if support is no longer required.

Eligibility includes a high school diploma or equivalent, or completion of two years of college, or an associate's degree. New hires may certify via Parapro assessment after starting, with specified targets.

** This position is tied to the needs of a specific student. If that student no longer required the additional support, the position would end immediately. **

*This position provides support to a student with special needs.

All Paraprofessionals must have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent. Additionally, Paraprofessionals must be qualified through one of the following options:

• Complete two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
• Obtain an associate's (or higher) degree (must provide supporting documents)

Newly hired paraprofessionals who do not meet one of these requirements will be required to certify through the Parapro assessment as soon as possible after being hired as noted below:

• Meet a proficiency target of 455 on the Parapro standardized assessment.
• In addition to the options identified above, Paraprofessionals may achieve local status by meeting a local proficiency score on the Parapro of 450.

When completing new hire paperwork paraprofessionals will receive direction on how to begin the process of scheduling your Parapro assessment.
