Job summary

Partners In Development is seeking an Education Outreach Assistant to support teaching teams across program sites in Kailua-Kona, HI. The role involves helping set up and break down environments, co-teaching lessons, and preparing materials for keiki birth to five years old.

You will assist with lesson plan implementation, facilitate classroom activities, and participate in field trips and team meetings to ensure culturally relevant, high-quality programming for families and caregivers.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) months experience working with young children ages birth through five in an educational setting.
  • Some experience working with families and individuals in a caregiving capacity.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel) and Google Drive (Meetings, Docs, Sheets, Calendar).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian culture and values.

Responsibilities

EDUCATION OUTREACH ASSISTANT
Primary Purpose

Support the teaching team to deliver a high-quality learning environment for children and families.

  • Assist with monthly field trips;

  • Participate in team meetings to implement high-quality, culturally appropriate lesson plans for keiki ages birth-five years old;

Other Duties

Other duties as assigned include, but not limited to, completing all forms and documentations such as reports related to grant objectives, professional development evaluations, and data collection for the program.

Work Hours
  • A 10-month work schedule that closely aligns with the Hawai'i Department of Education's paid leave calendar;
  • Monday through Friday, hours vary by site and are determined by Lead Education Specialist;
  • Consistent and reliable attendance;
  • Some events and professional development may occur during nights or weekends.
Working Conditions
  • Office setting and program sites;
  • Travel in program vehicle to and from program sites;
  • Travel to the neighbor islands and continental U.S. may be required.
Equipment Use

Program vehicle, office equipment (computer, printer, copier, scanner, bluetooth, laminator, shredder), site and facility equipment.

Physical
  • Capable of strenuous activities which may include loading/unloading of vehicles, washing of the vehicles, mats and tarps; set up/break down of tents;
  • Requires lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds on a regular basis;
  • Able to sit and work on floor; kneel and bend;
  • Indoors: Exposure to normal office environments, A/C, fans, etc.
Communication
  • Exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, vendors and partners, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence in a timely manner;
  • Able to address participants individually or in groups through speaking, demonstrating activities, singing, dancing, and signing;
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Properly handle and maintain highly confidential information
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
