Job summary

Scion Nonprofit Staffing in Chicago is seeking a Lead Tutor & Education Coordinator for a nonprofit delivering individualized academic support and educational programming to students from underserved communities. This direct-hire, onsite role leads daily tutoring operations, develops learning plans, mentors tutors, and coordinates classroom activities to foster student growth.

Evening school-year hours are required, with flexibility for occasional events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience as lead teacher or classroom educator in K-12.
• Strong classroom management and student/multi-tutor support.
• Ability to coach tutors in instructional strategies and build positive relationships.
• Excellent communication, organization, and tech skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily classroom and tutoring operations with materials, tech, and learning plans.
• Oversee the learning environment and establish personalized academic goals.
• Mentor tutors in reading strategies, homework support, and student self-advocacy.
• Support individual students and collaborate with education staff on learning plans.
• Develop knowledge of educational tech platforms and provide basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain documentation, attend staff meetings, and support events.
