Job summary

The University of Delaware's Center for Research in Education and Social Policy (CRESP) seeks an Associate Data Scientist to join a statewide data partnership with the Delaware Department of Education. You will conduct advanced data analyses, manage databases, and contribute to research on K-16 policy.

Responsibilities include developing analytic strategies, producing policy briefs, and collaborating with DDOE staff to connect research with education policy. Travel across Delaware is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; Ph.D. preferred in education or related social science.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis platforms (R, SAS, SPSS, STATA).
• Experience with relational database queries (SQL) preferred.
• Proficiency or willingness to learn qualitative analysis platforms (NVivo, Dedoose).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Project and process management skills.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to travel statewide in Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Co-manage statewide administrative and assessment databases.
• Lead analyses of state databases related to school staffing, student performance, and policy issues.
• Develop research questions related to current education policy issues.
• Review literature related to education policy and planned research.
• Develop analytic strategies for policy-related questions.
• Conduct research and data analyses for core policy initiatives.
• Design and implement data collection protocols (surveys, assessments).
• Prepare research reports, memos, briefs, and summaries.
• Assist DDOE senior staff with policy-informed research.
