Job summary

The Iowa Department of Education seeks an Education Program Consultant (Data and Reporting) to support the Bureau of Community Colleges data team in managing student, staff, and course databases for accountability reporting across Iowa's community colleges.

Responsibilities include data processing leadership, data cleaning, and assisting with federal/state reporting. Strong technical skills in SQL, Excel and visualization tools are required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited U.S. four-year college and five years of post-graduate work experience in any one or a combination of areas listed.
• A total of five years of post-graduate education and full-time experience may satisfy the requirement.
• Master's degree plus three academic years of teaching/admin experience may meet the requirement.
• Possession of a School Business Official Authorization and seven years of professional experience may meet the requirement.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in data processing and programming to create detailed and summary databases for accountability reporting.
• Acquire data from primary or secondary sources and maintain statewide databases/data systems.
• Assist with maintenance of the statewide MIS database and design data processing support for MIS improvements.
• Edit databases and MIS using programming languages or by working with contractors.
• Filter and clean data to locate and correct problems and automate validation processes.
• Provide data and technical assistance for year-end federal reporting and statewide program data reporting.
• Coordinate high school equivalency diplomas and maintain candidate records.
• Collaborate on statewide initiatives like the VFA national project.
