Job summary

Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden in New York seeks a part-time Museum Educator to deliver interactive, on-site and virtual programs for K-12 audiences, supporting education staff and school partners.

The role includes tailoring tours, developing content for fall through spring, and assisting with gallery activities; requires experience with children, Zoom proficiency, and flexible availability 2–3 days per week. Compensation is $20–$35/hour; seasonal, with some remote opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in museums or schools.
• Regular availability 2-3 days per week, including some evenings or weekends.
• Proficiency facilitating Zoom meetings and webinars.
• Strong interest in museum education and ability to adapt content for diverse audiences.
• Enthusiastic, dependable, and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist with marketing campaigns and outreach to grow school programs.
• Lead and tailor programs for teachers during museum events and open houses.
• Develop content to align with school curricula and learner goals.
• Adapt tours for groups with special needs and English Language Learners.
• Support virtual programs for homeschoolers and out-of-state schools.
• Provide program prep, setup, and light administrative tasks.
