Job description

At IBM, work is more than a job - it's a calling: To build. To design. To code. To consult. To think along with clients and sell. To make markets. To invent. To collaborate. Not just to do something better, but to attempt things you've never thought possible. Are you ready to lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world's most challenging problems? If so, let's talk.

Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Think is IBM’s omnichannel media and events hub, bringing together content that generates awareness, engagement, impact, and new digital relationships with visitors and clients. We’re building a team of creators, writers, journalists, and technologists who can help people better understand and successfully adopt emerging technologies. We’ll do this by producing exclusive, high-quality content—explainers, feature articles, thought leadership, industry news and analysis, podcasts, newsletters, tutorials, demos, and more—that help visitors make sense of new technologies and new ways of working, and connect them to ways IBM can help.

As Editorial Team Lead, you’ll be responsible for driving timely production of high-quality, engaging content that answers questions and furthers interest in technical and business topics relevant to IBM products and services. Reporting to the Content Director, your primary responsibilities will be to:

  1. Lead a team of 4-6 writers focused on a particular IBM market (e.g., AI, data management, automation, cloud computing).
  2. Produce a variety of content—explainers, feature stories, interviews, blogs, email copy, and more—on a regular schedule (e.g., one page or item per writer per week).
  3. Drive and facilitate team collaboration with product managers, digital strategists, subject matter experts (SMEs), salespeople, and search engine optimization (SEO) analysts, to develop content that resonates with business and technical audiences and meets them where they are in their buyer journey.
  4. Cultivate expert internal and external sources on relevant technical and business topics.
  5. Develop, edit, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. Learn and observe IBM style and content standards across all content.
Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  1. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising, English, or related field.
  2. 8+ years’ experience as a writer, editor, or contributor for IT or business publications, or for creative agencies servicing IT industry clients.
  3. 2+ years’ experience managing and editing writers.
  4. Strong research, interviewing, storytelling, and pitching skills, and demonstrated success applying these skills to marketing content (with samples).
  5. General understanding of IT concepts, particularly in the areas of AI, data management, digital automation, and cloud computing.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
  1. Familiarity with content management systems (especially Adobe Experience Manager) and project management tools (Jira, Airtable).
  2. Experience developing story ideas and content from industry research and data (data journalism).
  3. Success working with graphic designers to develop illustrations and diagrams explaining complex technical concepts and procedures.
  4. Basic understanding of SEO.
