The Boston Globe is seeking a creative, collaborative Designer to shape the visual presentation of our journalism across print and digital platforms. This role designs compelling features and layouts that elevate storytelling and reflect the authority of the Globe’s journalism.

Based in Boston, you will partner with editors, reporters, photographers, and product teams to conceive and execute ambitious visual presentations—from daily news packages to signature enterprise projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience designing for journalism or a newsroom environment.
• Experience designing for both print and digital platforms strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to create engaging feature layouts and visual storytelling packages.

Responsabilités

• Design engaging layouts and visual presentations for print and digital properties.
• Partner with editors and product teams to conceive and execute features.
• Design and build custom digital story elements using HTML and CSS, including interactive modules and responsive layouts.
• Prototype and implement web-based storytelling components within publishing systems.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and editorial teams to develop new digital storytelling tools.
• Translate complex reporting into clear, compelling visual experiences.
• Collaborate with editors, reporters, photographers, and developers to bring projects to life.
• Help create and commission photography, illustration, artwork, and other visual elements.
• Ensure visual consistency and upholding brand standards across platforms.
• Work efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.
