Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) seeks an Editorial Coordinator, Journals, to support peer review from submission to production under a Managing Editor. You will be the first line of contact for authors, editors, and reviewers, producing clear communications and managing multiple deadlines.

This hybrid/remote role in Reston, VA involves domestic travel (1–2 trips/year) and collaboration across the Journals Editorial team to ensure timely, high-quality scholarly outputs.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in scholarly publishing preferred.
• Experience with journal submission systems highly preferred.
• Strong written communication and customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Process manuscript submissions and editorial decisions.
• Oversee AI-enabled tools within editorial workflows.
• Manage journal inbox inquiries and turnaround reports.
• Support editorial board meetings with reports and notes.
• Coordinate with Managing Editors on special collections.
• Assist with submission system troubleshooting and admin support.
