ABOUT THE ROLE

Inc. Business Media is looking for an Editorial Assistant to support editorial and lead outreach process for Inc.’s rankings, including the Inc. 5000, Female Founders, Power Partners, the Best in Business, Best Workplaces, and Inc. Regionals recognition programs. This role will require strong research, organizational and multitasking skills, clear and professional communication, and a drive to find and secure the strongest potential applicants for Inc.’s marquee programs.

This role will require weekly in-office presence on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at our corporate office at 7 World Trade Center, New York, NY.

This position is covered under the Writers Guild of America East Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Salary range: $66,500-$70,000. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, industry, and education.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
  • Lead targeted outreach to companies of interest for Inc.’s programs-- including Inc. 5000, Female Founders, Power Partners, Best in Business, Best Workplaces, Founder-Friendly Investors, and Inc. Regionals -- to develop a growing pipeline of applicants and increasing engagement with repeat winners, coordinating with stakeholders across editorial and consumer marketing to support program revenue goals
  • Manage Inc.’s database of company candidates, updating daily with new additions across programs, and coordinate with writers and editors to secure contacts from timely editorial coverage
  • Develop new leads and ongoing prospects for Inc.’s programs, as well as nurture existing relationships with community partner organizations to extend applicant pipelines for recognition programs
  • Review program applications and conduct exploratory calls with promising applicants to present to Inc. Editors for coverage consideration
  • Support recognition program events promoting upcoming recognition programs, coordinating outreach and new invites, event logistics, and event programming
  • Work with Inc.’s editorial, social media, marketing, newsletter, and PR teams to effectively promote Inc.’s recognition programs through compelling editorial and multimedia content, developing new ideas for enhanced promotion
  • Prepare internal promotional materials ahead of list launches
  • Prepare written copy as needed for digital and print production
  • Pitch and write quick-turn and reported stories featuring honorees of Inc.’s recognition programs for Inc.com
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Demonstrated interest in journalism and business or entrepreneurship coverage.
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills for digital and print content.
  • Clear communication skills and comfort conducting interviews or exploratory calls.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and track information.
  • Internship experience in editorial, media, or publishing preferred.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms and Airtable is a plus.
