Job summary

Youth Villages in Memphis, TN is seeking an Editor | Digital Content Strategist to craft and manage high-quality content across digital and print channels. You will lead editing, SEO optimization and campaign copy, while ensuring brand tone and AP style across Youth Villages and its sub-brands, including Memphis Allies and Janie’s Fund.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in writing, editing or digital content roles.
  • Strong editing skills across grammar, tone, and formatting.
  • AP style mastery; SEO fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with analytics tools (InCopy).
  • Experience developing content strategies aligned with goals.
  • Strong project management and deadline awareness.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or in teams.

Responsibilities

Editor | Digital Content Strategist

Youth Villages is seeking a content strategist and editor to join our Digital Communications Department. This role will be responsible for creating, editing and managing high-quality content across various mediums, helping to ensure all messaging aligns with Youth Villages’ mission and engages its diverse audiences. This role will also require collaboration with stakeholders across departments to provide cohesive and effective communications for Youth Villages and its sub-brands, which include Memphis Allies and Janie’s Fund.

Key Duties and Responsibility

The Editor | Digital Content Strategist:

  • Writes, edits, proofreads and optimizes engaging content for digital campaigns, social media, marketing materials, print collateral, websites, blogs, landing pages and newsletters, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment with brand tone and style.
  • Optimizes content for search engines by applying SEO best practices, including keyword research and creating compelling headlines.
  • Serves as the primary editor for the Communications Department, ensuring content accuracy, consistency and alignment with brand guidelines and AP style.
  • Regularly reviews and updates website content to ensure all information and references are accurate and current.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to produce cohesive messaging for Youth Villages, Memphis Allies and Janie’s Fund.
  • Writes campaign briefs and produces all copy for integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Conducts research and fact‑checking to ensure content is accurate, impactful and relevant to target audiences.
  • Monitors industry trends and emerging technologies to keep content strategies fresh and innovative.
  • Assists with additional content creation and editing duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in writing, editing or digital content roles.
  • Exceptional editorial ability, editing content not only for grammar/punctuation/spelling, but also for overall style, tone and formatting. Managing content across digital and print platforms.
  • Expertise in AP style; familiarity with SEO best practices is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with digital analytics tools is a plus (inCopy).
  • Experience developing and executing content strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self‑motivated and adaptable to work independently or collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
