Hearst Television's WESH 2/CW18 in Orlando is seeking a Part-Time News Editor who combines strong writing with compelling visuals to cover stories in a fast-paced market.

The ideal candidate edits stories, videos and newscasts on tight deadlines, operates nonlinear editing tools including Adobe Premiere, and collaborates with reporters and producers to produce high-quality content for TV and digital platforms. In-person attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to work and edit on linear and nonlinear editing software.
• Proficiency editing with Adobe Premiere.
• Can handle and juggle multiple editing assignments under strict deadlines.
• Knowledge of current video production techniques.
• Familiarity with mass communications law and media responsibilities.
• In-person attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain news archives
• Operate electronic newsgathering equipment
• Nonlinear editing using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Edius for newscast elements including PKGs, VOs, VOSOTs, opens, teases and preproduction material
• Collaborate with producers, reporters and managers to produce high quality stories
• Ensure proper storage and organization of media files
• Maintain standards for all edited material
• Taking in ENG and SNG feeds
• Any other editing responsibilities as assigned by news managers

WESH 2/CW18, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in the Orlando market, has an opening for a highly motivated and creative Part-Time News Editor to work in a very competitive news market. This position will cover news stories as assigned. Our ideal candidate has an excellent eye for visual compelling storytelling and is passionate about combining strong writing and storytelling with great pictures and sound.

Responsibilities

• Edit stories, videos, and newscasts on tight deadlines for newscasts and digital platforms.
• Maintain news archives
• Operate electronic newsgathering equipment
• Nonlinear editing using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Edius for newscast elements including PKGs, VOs, VOSOTs, opens, teases and preproduction material
• Collaborate with producers, reporters and managers to produce high quality stories
• Ensure proper storage and organization of media files
• Maintain standards for all edited material
• Taking in ENG and SNG feeds
• Any other editing responsibilities as assigned by news managers

Requirements

• Ability to work and edit on linear and nonlinear editing software

• Record multiple feeds on a digital encoding system
• Search for source materials from multiple outlets and platforms
• Able to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment with calm, skilled execution
• Related military experience will be considered
• In-person attendance is required
