Job summary

Avalere Health is seeking a Brand & Editorial Specialist to own the brand style guide, manage editorial reviews, and ensure regulatory and client standards are met. You will collaborate with copy, design, PM and client teams to maintain consistency across materials.

In this role you’ll mentor colleagues, oversee editorial reviews for accuracy, and help shape communications that reflect the Avalere Health voice. Hybrid/remote work is supported, with opportunities for global collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Proofreading or editing experience required; must be computer literate.
  • 2 to 4 years of proofreading/editing in a fast-paced pharmaceutical agency or similar environment.
  • Experience with fact-checking and AMA style preferred.
  • Strong MS Office and internet research skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains brand style guide and socializes it to the team.
  • Updates on an ongoing basis per client and regulatory feedback on projects.
  • Ensures deliverables adhere to style guide.
  • Reviews brand materials for correctness, factuality, sense, credibility, decorum, compliance, and style.
  • Advises brand team, copywriters, and other colleagues on editorial topics.
  • Communicates professionally with internal and client personnel.
  • Onboards new team members to the brand and USM practices.
  • Understands spheres of authority and agency-of-record (AOR) team RACI.

What You'll Do:
Style Guide Owner

Develops and maintains brand style guide, socializing it to the rest of the team.

  • Creates brand style guide using established practices
  • Updates on an ongoing basis per client and regulatory feedback on projects
  • Socializes style guide and solicits feedback from teammates
  • Ensures deliverables adhere to style guide
Editorial Authority

Reviews brand materials and other projects for correctness, factuality, sense, credibility, decorum, compliance, and style.

  • Checks files to ensure correctness, factuality, sense, credibility, decorum, compliance, and adherence to the brand style guide
  • Demonstrates a mastery of different types of reviews (eg, cold reads, word-for-words, check changes, fact checks) and understands when to employ various levels of editorial rigor
  • Displays an understanding of promotional regulations, audience, purpose, and client goals and objectives
  • Adheres to best practices and standard operating procedures
  • Identifies efficiencies when editing and training colleagues
  • Advises brand team, copywriters, and other colleagues on editorial topics
  • Encourages colleagues to follow established SOPs, while remaining flexible to client and/or business needs
  • Onboards new team members to the brand and USM practices and advocates adherence to it

Writes and speaks comprehensibly with colleagues and select client personnel.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in English

Experience

  • 2 to 4 years of experience proofreading and/or editing in a fast-paced pharmaceutical agency or similar environment
Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Proficiency in internet and other secondary research tools; AMA style, Dorland’s, and PubMed preferred
  • Familiarity with digital routing preferred

$70,000 - $85,000 a year
