Job summary

ngrok is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and evolve the Agent that runs at the edge, enabling secure, scalable API delivery and device connectivity. You’ll design for reliability, performance, and portability across laptops, servers, and containers.

Join a team focused on correctness, observability, and impactful edge computing. This role offers remote work outside the Bay Area with occasional SF collaboration and a strong compensation package.

Qualifications

• You’ve built systems‑level software that had to work under pressure.
• You’re comfortable in Go, Rust, C/C++, or Java (bonus points for Go).
• You enjoy debugging things that “shouldn’t be possible”.
• You think deeply about reliability, security, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Build the next-generation ngrok agent: ship features for networking, integrations, and remote management.
• Own reliability at the edge: design for latency, throughput, and correctness under chaos.
• Develop SDKs and embeddable integrations that are easy to integrate and hard to misuse.
• Make the system observable with diagnostics, logging, and metrics.
• Ship software that runs on laptops, servers, CI systems, containers, and diverse hardware.
• Collaborate with product, platform, and support teams to explain issues clearly.
