Job summary

Primordial Labs seeks a senior ML engineer to own the language stack for tactical-edge deployment of autonomous-system software. You will shape speech recognition and natural language understanding models with constrained compute in mind, ensuring low latency and small footprints.

You will build data-generation tooling, train domain-specific models, and push production-ready inference pipelines that ship with robust evaluation and tested reliability.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience training, optimizing, and deploying ML models in production.
• Speech recognition and natural language understanding in a specialized domain.
• Proficiency with Python and modern deep learning frameworks, including custom training loops.
• Experience moving models from research code to production inference paths.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and decide architectures based on operational criteria like accuracy, latency, and footprint.
• Develop synthetic data generation tooling and augmentation pipelines, and curate field data.
• Train and fine-tune models to understand operator speech in noisy, degraded conditions.
• Optimize latency and memory usage, with benchmarks to prove gains.
• Mature code into production-ready deployment, with weights served efficiently.
• Design evaluation reflecting real operator success and convert failures into tests and data.
• Improve MLOps: training, tracking, evaluation, and release processes.
