Job summary

Coram AI in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Design Engineer to own the mechanical and electromechanical design of next‑generation security and edge‑AI systems. You’ll bridge industrial design, manufacturing, and field deployment, building rugged hardware that scales globally.

You’ll take ideas from concept through production, shaping CAD choices and ensuring manufacturability with a focus on thermal, vibration, and environmental considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of electromechanical or hardware product development experience.
• Strong CAD proficiency (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
• Proven DFM/DFA experience and understanding of manufacturing techniques for sheet metal and injection molding.
• Working knowledge of thermal, vibration, and environmental design considerations.
• Resilient in challenging and fast-paced environments.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Ability to work in an onsite environment - we move quicker when we're in the same room.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and validation of electromechanical assemblies balancing performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Own the full product lifecycle from prototype through EVT/DVT/PVT, vendor handoff, and field deployment.
• Manage vendor and supplier relationships to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
• Be a proactive self-starter: take initiative, act with urgency, and bring a scrappy, hands-on approach to problem solving in fast-moving environments.
• Drive execution across multiple workstreams with urgency and accountability.
