Job summary

Vantor Inc. is seeking an experienced AI/ML engineer for an on-site role in Reston, VA. You will work with a small team to develop and deploy AI/ML capabilities on embedded hardware in air-gapped environments, from data handling to model evaluation and documentation.

The role requires a TS/SCI clearance and a strong background in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and Linux, with Docker experience for offline pipelines. Join us to shape tactical edge AI solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field such as data science, CS, CE, statistics, or EE.
• At least five years of relevant experience.
• U.S. Citizen with a TS/SCI clearance and CI poly.
• Hands-on experience training and evaluating AI/ML models using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Proficiency in Python and data science tools (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn) and Bash.
• Experience configuring Linux apps and deploying offline-native Docker apps.

Responsibilities

• Source, curate, clean, and label datasets from open-source repositories and sensor data.
• Train, fine-tune, and evaluate AI/ML models including CV and LLMs for mission use cases.
• Design evaluation methods and metrics for accuracy, latency, and reliability.
• Optimize models for resource-constrained hardware using quantization, pruning, and edge runtimes.
• Build and deploy offline-native data and ML pipelines in Docker containers.
• Configure and troubleshoot Linux-based embedded systems and kernel-hardware compatibility.
• Engage with customers to understand needs and deliver usable solutions.
• Produce documentation including model performance reports and user manuals.
