Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is seeking an Unit Supervisor for the Emergency Department in the Hiawatha ED. The role leads ED staff, mentors team members, and participates in leadership activities with the ED Director to ensure high-quality patient care.

The position requires RN licensure in Iowa or a compact state, BLS, ACLS & PALS, TNCC, and potential NRP. A Bachelor's degree is preferred and a sign-on bonus up to $15,000 is available.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership skills required.
• Minimum two years RN experience required.
• Emergency Department - minimum two years’ experience in an ED setting.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice as an RN in Iowa or compact state.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training.
• ACLS & PALS required.
• TNCC completion preferred.
• NRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and coordinates staffing levels, schedules, and evaluations.
• Plans and implements staff training and quality programs.
• Creates a culture of interdisciplinary cooperation and communication to motivate staff.
• Manages customer complaints promptly and with care.
• Conducts regular department meetings with leadership.
• Collaborates to implement key initiatives and quality metrics.
• Performs cost containment in time, charges, and supplies.
• Serves as mentor and liaison between staff and physicians.
