Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Emergency Department Technician II to support nursing staff in the ED. Under RN supervision, you will perform multi-skilled tasks, assist with patient assessment, manage procedures, and promote patient-centered care for diverse age groups.

You will lead assigned team members, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure patient safety and privacy, and participate in professional practice and governance to maintain clinical standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 2 weeks of hire.
• At least 1 year in ED Technician I position or equivalent (CNA, EMT, CPT) or inpatient hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Direct and lead other team members and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver age-appropriate care.
• Protect patient privacy, promote a safe and respectful environment, and support professional practice and governance.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

1 year hospital experience or ED Technician I/CNA/EMT experience
