JOB SUMMARY:
Provides emergency care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Physician. Oversight for clinical practice will be provided by the Medical Director. Skill set approved by NC-OEMS will be utilized, within the parameters established by the Nursing and Medical director leadership. The ED Tech ll collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age / developmentally appropriate care in accordance with standards of care and practice for the Emergency Department setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Formal Training: Advanced EMT Certificate or Paramedic certificate, three years Emergency Services experience preferred. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. NC-OEMS certification as EMT-I or EMT-P mandatory. Critical care certificate or national registry paramedic preferred. Maintains certification through affiliation with approved NC-OEMS education provider.
Work Experience: Three years Emergency Services preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Actively functions as a patient advocate. Demonstrates an ability to respond to changing workloads and performs in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations when time is critical. Uses support staff in an efficient and cost-conscious manner.
