Job summary

Holy Cross Health FL in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a dedicated Night Shift Paramedic/ER Tech to join our emergency team. You will perform ECG studies, verify orders, transmit data, and support triage and patient monitoring during the 7p–7a shift.

Minimum qualifications include HS diploma or GED; Paramedic/EMT certification preferred; prior Paramedic/EMT experience and IV start ability; cross-training as Unit Secretary; computer skills required.

• Previous experience as Paramedic and/or EMT required; IV start experience necessary.
• Computer experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proper technique and lead placement for a quality ECG study.
• Verifies order is placed into computer.
• Acquires ECG ensuring patient demographics are entered correctly.
• Edits ECG data to correct patient information.
• Transmits data from the ECG cart to the data management system.
• Identifies high priority rhythms and delivers ECG to ED MD for interpretation.
• Assesses patient needs and demonstrates appropriate growth and development considerations.
• Identifies high priority patients to the triage nurse using predefined criteria.
• Monitors waiting room and alerts triage nurse for reassessment when needed.
• Recognizes and responds to monitor alarms and notifies RN/charge nurse.

Night Shift 7p-7a

• Demonstrates proper technique and lead placement for performing a quality ECG study.
• Verifies order is placed into computer.
• Acquires ECG assuring all patient demographics are entered and correct.
• Edits ECG s (ie correct patient s name, MR#, room #).
• Transmits from the ECG cart to the data management system.
• Identifies high priority rhythms and complexes and delivers ECG to ED MD for interpretation
• Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient s needs.
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of growth and development.
• Demonstrates the ability to identify high priority patients to the triage nurse, based on pre determined criteria.
• Monitors the waiting room and identifies patient in need for re-assessment by the triage nurse, based on pre determined criteria.
• Recognizes and responds to monitor alarms and/or changes in patient cardiac rhythm, and assures that RN or charge nurse is notified and aware.

Minimum Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required

• Certificate from Paramedic and/or EMT School is preferred.
• Willingness to cross train as Unit Secretary
• Previous experience working as a Paramedic and/or EMT is required. Experience with starting IVs is necessary
• Computer experience

Licences/Certifications

• Paramedic and/or ER Tech License preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS require
