Job summary

CHRISTUS Health seeks an Emergency Department Technician to support ED operations, perform RN-delegated tasks, assist with patient care, registration, and supply management. You will maintain a safe patient environment and collaborate with the care team to ensure smooth ED workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Completion of approved patient care/ED tech/medical assisting programs or equivalent CHRISTUS Emergency Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of CHRISTUS OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
• Observes patient condition, recognizes changes, and reports to the RN.
• Escorts stable patients to other departments as required.
• Cleans, procures, and returns equipment and supplies.
• Maintains stock items and orderly supply rooms.
• Performs venipuncture, splinting, dressing changes, glucometer readings, and basic monitoring as trained.
• Assists with ED procedures and supports the RN.
• Operates patient monitoring equipment and records; runs EKGs and collects specimens under RN direction.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection as ordered.
• Adapts care to patient population and developmental needs.
• Performs clerical tasks on nursing units and assists with patient flow and documentation.
• Greets patients as they arrive and ensures accurate registration of demographics, insurance, and financial information.
• Demonstrates CHRISTUS Health CORE values.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
