Job summary

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia, CA, seeks an ED Tech I to assist the Emergency Department team in patient care and during emergency procedures. You will monitor cardiac rhythms, perform clerical tasks, and help coordinate communication across units.

Ideal candidates bring CA EMT/Paramedic certification (or Paramedic licensure), BLS, and MAB certification, plus 12‑lead EKG experience and basic medical terminology knowledge. This is a frontline, patient‑centric role in a fast‑paced ED.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ED staff and physicians in patient care and during emergency procedures
  • Serve as unit-clerk/ monitor technician managing cardiac rhythm monitoring and information flow
  • Perform clerical duties to update and organize ED data and coordinate interdepartmental communication

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and physician, the ED Tech I is responsible for assisting the Emergency Department staff and physicians in providing patient care and assisting during emergency patient care procedures. As a unit-clerk/ monitor technician is responsible for interpreting and monitoring the patient’s cardiac rhythm status, providing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organization of information in the Emergency Department; and directing the flow of communication between other units and departments.

What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar and math skills
  • EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Basic computer skills
Licensure and Certification:
  • Current CA EMT/Paramedic certification AND Current CA Phlebotomy (CPT) certification; OR current CA Paramedic licensure
  • Current BLS provider card
  • MAB certification
Education:
  • High School graduate, GED or equivalent.
  • Medical terminology course completion preferred
  • Basic Dysrhythmia recognition class
Experience:
  • 12‑Lead EKG experience
  • Previous experience in comparable position highly desired
