Job summary

Concord Hospital in the Emergency Department seeks an Emergency Department Technician 2. This role is an EMT-B/EMT-A or LNA who provides direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of the RN or Paramedic, supporting patient care, environment, and supply management as part of the patient care team.

Education includes a high school diploma and certification such as EMT-B/EMT-A or LNA with BLS. Experience of one year in EMT or LNA is preferred, with duties including responding to RN

Qualifications

• One year of EMT or LNA experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Responds to requests for patient care assistance as delegated by RN.
• Maintains skill level to perform patient care tasks including IV insertion and medication administration as delegated by RN.
• Collects and processes laboratory specimens.
• Maintains department supplies and equipment.
• Assists with clerical duties.
• Performs job-specific requirements and other duties as assigned.
• Serves as a preceptor for new employees.

Summary

The Emergency Department Technician 2 job exists within the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department Technician 2 is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) who provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction or the Registered Nurse or Paramedic. Responsible for patient support, environmental and supply management functions, as part of the patient care team. The EMT or LNA adheres to Emergency specialty standards and organizational standards, policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols. The ED Tech II reports to the Nurse Manager with daily shift supervision by the Charge
Nurse.

Education

High school or equivalent (GED).

Certification, Registration & Licensure

• National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or
• National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced (EMT-A) or
• Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)
• Basic Life Support - American Heart Association

Experience

One year of prior experience as an EMT or LNA. Evidence of experience working effectively and positively with patients, care providers, and the multi-disciplinary team. Evidence of the ability to perform as a member of a team.
