Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse for the ED (RN-ED) on a PRN I third shift basis at the Lexington, KY location.

The ED provides 24-hour emergency care for severe injuries and illnesses. The RN-ED will implement professional nursing practice focused on the patient and the healing environment, assess needs, develop and execute care plans, provide direct care, and manage care delivery while demonstrating leadership and commitment to quality, patient relations, and a healing

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor’s or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
• Associate degree holders with <10 years of experience must enroll in a BSN within 12 months and complete it within 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; must obtain within 30 days if not already certified.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and dysrhythmia training as required by department.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered nursing care in the ED.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Develop and update individualized care plans.
• Deliver direct patient care in fast-paced ED.
• Coordinate and manage patient care delivery across shifts.
• Demonstrate leadership in nursing practice and team collaboration.
• Support quality care initiatives and therapeutic patient environment.
• Maintain excellent customer relations and healing environment.

An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.

Description RN-ED:

• Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.
• Assessment of patients’ needs.
• Development of patient care plan/s
• Provision of direct care.
• Management of patient care delivery.
• Demonstrate of leadership skills.
• Support for quality care.
• Customer relations and healing environment.

Requirements RN-ED:

• Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor’s or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
