Qualifications

• Minimum two years ED nursing experience.
• Current ACLS knowledge and BLS certification.
• Competence in acute cardiac care, trauma and related procedures.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and/or assists with ACLS in arrests; maintains BLS/ACLS/CALS certifications.
• Care for ED outpatients, IVs, dressings and radiology procedures; provide triage.
• Deliver care as directed; provide relief for ED/ICU/medical-surgical/ambulatory care.
• Assist with admissions in Med/Surg and ICU; maintain continuity of care.
• Assess patient needs; participate in care planning and education.
• Initiate and implement nursing care plans; educate staff and patients.
• Assist physicians with procedures; adapt to changing duties.

Astera Health currently has an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) opening at the Wadena campus. The primary function of this role is to implement physician orders and provide patient care in the Emergency Department to people of all ages by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care and plan of care.

This position is part-time, 48 hours per bi-weekly period, 12-hour night shifts per week, including every 3rd weekend and 3rd holiday rotation. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Initiates and/or assists with Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) in cardiopulmonary arrests and maintains BLS training, ACLS, and CALS certification.
• Care for outpatients who need IV’s, dressing changes, ER patients, assist in Ambulatory Care as directed by RN, assist in Radiology when needed for catheterizations and IV starts. Provide triage to Ready Care when paged. Other duties may be assigned depending on patient volume, acuity or change in service.
• Delivers care as directed by Nursing Supervisor and provide relief for Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, medical-surgical, and Ambulatory Care.
• Provide continuity of care and assist with admissions in Med Surg/ICU.
• May participate in delivery of direct patient care. Assesses patient needs, both physical and psychosocial as needed.
• Initiates and implements nursing care plans as directed by the Nursing Supervisor.
• Educates and orients team members as well as participates in patient and family teaching. May be responsible for the administration of medications.
• Assists physicians with procedures as needed.

Qualifications

Education and experience required:

• Current licensure as Registered Nurse (RN) in Minnesota
• Minimum two years ED nursing experience; Or and equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties of the job
• Knowledge and proficiency with the ACLS algorithm
• Knowledge and proficiency with care related to acute coronary syndrome, stroke and trauma
• Knowledge and proficiency with performing and/or assisting in routine and complex patient care procedures
• BLS Certification
