Job summary

Mission Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for Emergency Department Overflow in Asheville, NC. This role emphasizes leadership in delivering professional nursing care and using the nursing process to assess and document patient care.

Qualifications

• Required Experience: One year of RN experience.
• Preferred Experience: Hospital nursing experience.
• Required Education: ADN.
• Preferred Education: BSN.
• Required License: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing; eNLC license may apply.
• Required Certification: BLS Healthcare Provider.
• Preferred Certification: National Certification in area of specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership which facilitates the delivery of professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients.
• Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and families.
• Implements medically prescribed interventions.
• Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
• Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
