Job description

This Executive Director opportunity sits within the second-line Credit Risk Management function of a well-established global financial institution, offering senior leadership of infrastructure and power credit risk coverage across the Americas. The role carries genuine credit authority — independently evaluating and approving complex project finance and asset-based transactions spanning Solar, Wind, BESS, CCGT, Data Centers, Fiber, and LNG across development, construction, and operational stages. Beyond transaction-level work, the role carries team leadership responsibility and meaningful influence over credit policy, risk appetite, and regulatory engagement across a globally integrated risk organization. It's the right seat for a seasoned project finance credit professional with 12+ years of progressive infrastructure and power credit experience who combines deep sector expertise with strong independent judgment, polished communication skills, and the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fundamental financial analysis and evaluation of complex and bespoke deal structures across infrastructure and power asset types including renewable energy (Solar, Wind, BESS), conventional power (CCGT, LNG), digital infrastructure (Data Centers, Fiber), and transportation — with renewable power project financing experience strongly preferred
  • Take full ownership of analyzing and assigning internal credit ratings; evaluate key risks and mitigants across novel transactions and prepare internal memoranda documenting decision rationale
  • Engage directly with front office deal teams as an independent credit authority on deal structuring, transaction design, and commercial terms across a diverse and complex credit portfolio
  • Propose and negotiate structural changes for new and existing transactions to proactively manage credit risk including in higher risk or deteriorating credit situations
  • Lead due diligence discussions via calls and on-site visits with client and borrower management teams; provide feedback on structuring of key commercial and legal terms in coordination with Legal and Finance
  • Own and manage a portfolio of Investment Grade and Sub-Investment Grade credit exposures; ensure timely credit reviews, participate in periodic lender calls, and conduct holistic portfolio reviews
  • Track regulatory and industry-specific operating environment developments; monitor counterparty credit profiles and external rating changes; ensure proactive socialization and escalation as needed
  • Mentor and support the development of junior team members; contribute to a culture of inclusion, risk awareness, and continuous improvement
  • Participate in firm-wide projects across Risk and Business functions including regular and ad-hoc portfolio and limit reviews
