Job summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to coordinate the continuum of care for ED referrals. You will facilitate radio and phone communications for incoming ED patients and update the EMR with history, diagnosis, transfer details, and contact numbers.

You will collaborate with ED physicians and the charge nurse to determine severity and services, assist with admissions, and ensure timely follow-up on lab results to support proper treatment across the ED and related units.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing.
  • Four (4) years nursing experience.
  • Current US state LPN license with authorization to practice in GA.
  • Current AHA/ARC BLS certification.
  • AHA ACLS/ARC ALS and AHA/ARC PALS required within nine months of hire.
  • CPT training within 9 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the continuum of care for all patients referred to the ED.
  • Facilitate radio and telephone communication for incoming ED patients.
  • Obtain and update documentation in the EMR including patient history, diagnosis, transfer facility, call backs, etc.
  • Consult with ED physician and charge nurse to evaluate illness severity and services needed.
  • Assist with admissions by collaborating with transfer facility, charge nurse, bed coordinator.
  • Follow up on lab and radiology results and coordinate follow-up for proper treatment.
