Role & Responsibilities
  • Inspect buildings and structures to identify potential fire hazards.
  • Ensure buildings are equipped with fire control equipment.
  • Locate fire code violations and recommend actions to bring properties into compliance.
  • Conduct onsite inspections.
  • Test fire protection systems.
  • Ensure buildings are in accordance with appropriate laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards.
  • Evaluate evacuation procedures.
  • Replace defective fire detection equipment.
Qualifications
  • High School Graduate.
  • Power Limited License (PLT) required.
  • 2+ years of experience maintaining or installing fire alarm systems.
  • Current NICET I or NICET II certification—preferred but not required.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of hand tools and specialty equipment with proficiency.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to climb ladders and manipulate hand tools safely.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuitry and associating low voltage.
  • Ability to use a laptop to program software.
  • Ability to work at various heights using a scissor lift and/or boom lift.
  • Ability to perform on-call duties as assigned.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Demonstrate high level of customer service.
  • Self-starter capable of working with little to no supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and quick learning.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to jobsites.
Physical Requirements

This job operates at high-end residential and commercial job sites; employees are frequently required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl and occasionally sit. It requires the ability to bend or stand as necessary and to move or lift objects regularly up to 50 pounds, often in varying weather conditions.

Program Information

Work as an LV technician, 40 hours per week. Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass the Electrician’s Trade Aptitude Test. Employees attend one day per week through a Joint Apprenticeship Training Program (free). Wages are based on the union scale and increase with hours worked. The program typically takes about three years to complete and to become licensed.

Compensation & Benefits

This position is covered by the MN Limited Energy collective bargaining agreement with a pay range of $33.44 to $51.07 per hour. Compensation details are determined by skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition to base compensation, Hunt Electric offers a robust benefits plan, including 100% employer-paid health, dental and vision insurance, a flexible hybrid work schedule, generous paid time off, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, and participation in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
