Job summary

Columbia Public School District is hiring a part-time ECSE Paraprofessional to assist the classroom teacher in providing an appropriate education for students with special needs.

The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma and Missouri paraprofessional credentials; experience in a school setting is preferred. Responsibilities include behavior management, material preparation, and direct caregiving under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and successful completion of the Missouri paraprofessional test prior to employment.
• Preferred: 36 hours of college credit and Missouri substitute teaching certificate.
• Prior experience in a school setting and/or working with young people.

Responsibilities

• Prepare student material and reinforce previously taught material as described by the teacher.
• Manage student behavior and classroom organization, implement policies rules and/or regulations.
• Provide direct caregiving services under supervision of teachers and staff.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
• Attend and document participation of required in-service training 10 to 15 hours.
• Attend/keep current on restraint training as directed; apply knowledge to respond to crises.
• Understand and adhere to Board policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties to support the district mission and vision.
