Job summary

South Washington County Schools seeks an Early Childhood Special Education Paraprofessional to provide instructional and behavioral support for students with disabilities under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher. The position is located at District Program Center and follows the school calendar.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, strong confidentiality, and the ability to reinforce math, reading and writing in an early childhood setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to meet District 833's Highly Qualified requirements.
• Ability to reinforce math, reading, and writing in early childhood classrooms.

Responsibilities

• Consult daily with the licensed special education teacher regarding daily responsibilities.
• Assist teacher in implementing district policies and procedures including emergency procedures and confidentiality.
• Help students with reading, writing, and math, adapting instruction as directed by the teacher.
• Support students with learning or behavioral challenges and assist with personal care needs.
• Utilize behavioral management techniques and document behavior per teacher directions.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with students, families and staff.
• Record and report student data as required by the teacher.
