Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is seeking an Economist II - Market Design in Carmel, IN to analyze wholesale electricity markets and design future market rules and models. You will work with economists, engineers, and technology teams to translate findings into actionable recommendations that improve efficiency and reliability.

The role requires a Master’s in Economics with at least four years of relevant experience and strong econometric skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Economics.
• At least four years of job-related experience.
• Specific experience in statistical and econometric analysis.

Responsabilités

• Perform statistical, econometric, and economic analyses of wholesale electricity market operations.
• Develop and evaluate new or enhanced wholesale electricity market design initiatives.
• Assess the economic impact of proposed market changes on market structure, participant behavior, competitiveness, efficiency, and reliability.
• Conduct economic modeling and quantitative analysis to evaluate market outcomes and the effectiveness of proposed changes.
• Develop and monitor key market performance indicators to evaluate market conditions and identify trends.
• Apply statistical and econometric methods to complex market datasets to identify relationships and issues.
• Support recommendations and implementation of improvements to market models, rules, and policy provisions.
• Review MISO market systems and outcomes for alignment with tariff requirements.
