Job summary

Amazon.com is seeking economists to work directly with the Chief Economists and senior management on strategic business questions spanning retail, cloud computing, and operations. You will construct econometric models using Amazon's data systems and apply economic theory to real-world problems in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates will have a PhD in Economics or closely related field, plus several years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience, with strong statistics background

Qualifications

• PhD in Economics, Quantitative Marketing, Finance, or closely related field.
• Three or more years of experience in a postdoctoral position; or, three or more years of experience in consulting, government or academic research.

Responsibilities

• Economists will work with our Chief Economists and senior management on key business problems across retail, cloud computing, third party merchants, search, Kindle, streaming video and operations.
• Build econometric models using world class data systems and apply economic theory to solve business problems in a fast moving environment.
• Develop new techniques to process large data sets and contribute to design of automated systems around the company.
