Job summary

State of Nebraska in Lincoln seeks an Economist to join the Department of Economic Development. You will conduct program and policy evaluations, build econometric models, and prepare agency reports to inform decision-making.

The role involves data transparency, research requests, and forecasts using R, Python, and GIS tools. The position requires a bachelor’s in business or economics with four years of related experience; a master’s is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics or a related field with four years of research experience.
• Master's degree is highly desirable and may substitute two years of experience.
• Experience with R, Python, GIS software and data visualization tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct program/policy evaluations and analyses based on state or federal legislation.
• Respond to ad hoc research requests from staff and external customers.
• Design methodology to create economic indicators and performance metrics.
• Create reports and data visualizations; build econometric models.
• Provide revenue forecasts for programs and prepare agency reports.
