Job summary

Berklee College of Music invites applications for a part-time student tutor role supporting LSOC-225. Tutors help current students with questions on course material and discuss core economic concepts such as supply and demand, pricing, and financial management.

Strong communication and a supportive teaching manner are essential. Applicants must be current Berklee/Boston Conservatory students, enrolled at least half-time, with a minimum 2.0 GPA and US residency.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist LSOC-225 students with questions and course material.

Job description

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

• Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
• Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate‑seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
• Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre‑registered for the upcoming fall semester.
• This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
• Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
• Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
• A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
• Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
• Federal Work Study student may apply.
• In good disciplinary standing.
• Must be located in the U.S.

Tutors are expected to assist current LSOC-225 students with questions/concerns regarding course material.

As such, they should enjoy working with other students in a learning environment.

Tutors must be able to understand the students’ questions, and to explain proper problem‑solving skills.

Additionally, they must also be able to explain the main economic concepts covered in LSOC-225, including supply and demand, pricing, employment, and financial management.

Prospective candidates must have a grade of ‘B’ or better in LSOC-225 OR the equivalent.
