Job summary

Chippewa County is seeking an Economic Support Specialist within the Department of Human Services – Economic Support Division. The role focuses on determining eligibility and providing ongoing case management for Medical Assistance, BadgerCare Plus, Food Share/SNAP, CTS, and Wisconsin Shares subsidies.

The position is remote with occasional in-person meetings at the Chippewa County Courthouse; candidate must reside in Wisconsin and have a Bachelor's degree with related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 1 year or more experience in income maintenance/ economic support in Wisconsin OR Bachelor's in Human Services or related program with 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Direct customer service experience with benefit programs and determining eligibility preferred.
• Knowledge of computers and strong interpersonal skills; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Determine eligibility and provide ongoing case management for the Income Maintenance Consortium across programs (Medical Assistance, BadgerCare Plus, Food Share/SNAP, CTS, Wisconsin Shares).
• Conduct timely, accurate processing and eligibility determinations; may require in-person meetings at the Chippewa County Courthouse; must reside in Wisconsin.

The job duties of the Economic Support Specialist position include but are not limited to: determining eligibility and providing ongoing case management for Chippewa County/Great Rivers Income Maintenance Consortium in a timely and accurate manner for the following public assistance programs: Medical Assistance, BadgerCare Plus, Food Share/SNAP, Caretaker Supplement (CTS), and Wisconsin Shares Child Care subsidies.

The position is remote and requires in-person meetings located at the Chippewa County Courthouse on occasion. Must reside in Wisconsin.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with one (1) year or more experience as an Income Maintenance/Economic Support Specialist in the state of Wisconsin required, -OR- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or financial related program required with one (1) year of recent human services or financial work experience preferred.
• Previous direct customer service work experience with benefit programs and determining benefit eligibility preferred.
• Must have knowledge of and experience with computers and strong interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license required.

Salary

• Starting Wage: $25.55 - $27.77 per hour depending on qualifications plus an excellent fringe benefit package.
• Maximum Wage: $33.32 per hour.
