Job summary

Cardiff is seeking an Economic Research Writer to produce our economic and industry reports. You’ll transform data releases like CPI, Case-Shiller, consumer confidence, and Fed decisions into clear, credible reports reporters cite and small business owners use.

Assignments follow a set release calendar. You’ll write about the sectors Cardiff serves, analyze public and lending data to surface trends, and deliver quarterly and year-end reports with timely summaries for media.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Ability to read economic data and find the story with a strong lead.
• Published clips in business, finance, or economic writing.
• Clean, accurate copy that needs minimal editing.
• Reliability on turnaround times, often 2 to 5 business days.
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Finance, Business, or a related field.

The Role

We’re looking for an Economic Research Writer to produce Cardiff’s economic and industry research reports. You’ll turn data releases like CPI, the Case-Shiller Home Price Index, consumer confidence, and Fed decisions into clear, credible reports that reporters cite and small business owners can use. Assignments follow a set release calendar.

What You’ll Do

• Write recurring reports on economic data releases such as CPI, the Case-Shiller Home Price Index, consumer confidence, jobs, and Fed rate decisions
• Write industry reports on the sectors Cardiff serves, including trucking and freight, construction and trades, agriculture, and food service
• Analyze public data and Cardiff’s lending data to surface key findings and trends
• Produce quarterly and year-end reports that pull the year’s data together
• Deliver clear report summaries our PR team can pitch to media
• Hit publication timelines tied to data release dates

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience
• Ability to read economic data and find the story with a strong lead
• Published clips in business, finance, or economic writing
• Exceptional English writing; your work should be your own
• Clean, accurate copy that needs minimal editing
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Finance, Business, or a related field
