I am working with a boutique consultancy that are looking for an analytical and highly effective communicator for an Economic Research Analyst role. Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and analyse economic trends across California’s real estate, housing, and labour markets.
  • Develop economic forecasts and conduct economic impact analyses to support research and decision-making.
  • Prepare high-quality economic briefs, reports, and presentations that communicate complex findings in accessible language.
  • Apply econometric methods to evaluate economic data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Interpret data, identifying anomalies, potential data quality issues, and emerging economic patterns.
  • Communicate research findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you will need to be a fit:
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in economic research, economic analysis, or a related field, ideally from a consultancy
  • A master’s degree in economics or a closely related discipline
  • Strong economic writing skills, with the ability to translate complex economic concepts and data into clear, engaging briefs for a general audience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with economic data, developing forecasts, and conducting economic impact analyses.
  • Solid econometrics skills and the ability to apply economic theory to real-world questions.
  • Strong knowledge of California’s economy, particularly its real estate, housing, and labour markets.
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language, such as Stata, R, or Python.
  • Experience using IMPLAN for economic impact analysis (desirable)
  • Experience producing research reports, economic outlooks, or policy briefs for non-technical audiences.

If you’re an economist or research specialist who combines strong analytical skills, enjoys identifying the story behind the numbers, understanding what economic trends mean in practice, and explaining their implications in a way that is clear and accessible, this role could be a perfect fit.
