Job summary

Lightcast is seeking an Economic Research Analyst / Junior Data Scientist to join its Professional Services team in Moscow, Idaho. The role focuses on transforming client research needs into structured analyses, repeatable workflows, and outputs grounded in labor market economics.

Responsibilities include querying large datasets with SQL and Python, building data pipelines, and producing client-ready materials in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Tableau.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in quantitative research, data analysis, or data science.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, public policy, data science, statistics, or related field.
• Experience using APIs to access, integrate, and analyze data.

Responsibilities

• Query, clean, and analyze large datasets using SQL, Python, and Snowflake.
• Build and maintain data pipelines, and create indices or composite measures.
• Use benchmarking, correlation, and trend analysis to answer client questions.
• Translate approaches into repeatable workflows and test new research methods.
• Prepare client-ready outputs in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word with visualizations in Tableau.
• Present findings to clients and internal stakeholders, aligning conclusions with data.
• Utilize LLM tools to support coding, debugging, documentation, and dashboards.
• Stay current on AI tools relevant to labor market research and share methods.
• Deliver milestones on time, document tools, and support proposals and RFP responses.
• Collaborate with consultants, researchers, and analysts as a team member.
